Just an observation,on many of these discussion groups
when browsing them, the first paragraph or so of the original post
is able to be read. This is really handy as it enables the reader to
sort of pre scan the thread.Often, when scanning for interesting
threads you find more crap you don't want to read anyway.

For instance the title "neck problem" or " built this" contains no
content and having to expand it ,then find a post with no helpful
content,or conversely a post we cannot add value to is frustrating.

Perhaps this has been discussed before,if so I apologize. If it hasn't
been talked about ,does anyone else think it's a good idea?

Sounds like a feature I've seen some in some other forums. From the view of the threads in a forum, when I mouse over the thread title a preview of the first few lines appears temporarily on my screen.

The example of this I've seen is the Seymnour Duncan Forum.

For the most part, I like that feature. It would be nice to be able to control it more dynamically though. For example, I'd like to be able to invoke it with a unique mouse or keyboard gesture and I'd like to be able to keep the window open a little more or less with a unique mouse or keyboard gesture.

I consider the feature, even as crude as it is there now, a useful one. Just my opinion. Some folks might not like it at all.

Is it available on the version of vBulletin we're using?

Paul has implemented the RSS feature, and it does exactly what you're asking if you subscribe to it.

I know what you are asking about and it's not RSS. This is a standard function of the software we use. However, it slows down the server quite a lot. We had it activated at one time, but in an effort to speed up browsing we turned it off.

Sorry.
