Fender '57 Twin ampnocaster67 November 25th, 2007, 08:54 AM Is anyone playing a Tele through this hand-wired CS amp from Fender? How do you like it? teleon November 25th, 2007, 10:40 AM Greetings, nocaster 67.The 57 Twin is a great amp! I play my four teles through it.Mine is a very quiet running amp that sounds good at all volume settings-as it should for what they cost.I buy all my gear online (I live 200 miles from the nearest music store) so I bought a THD hotplate and a 63 tweed reverb tank whith it. I never use the hotplate. I love the way the twin responds to my touch, love the resonance/punch of the pine cabinet, love the way it sounds whith just a bit of hair on the notes.Mine gets played at about 3-4 on the volume most of the time.If I want more hair on the notes I go through a tube screamer into an OCD into an old ibanez ad99 analog delay. It sounds great whith or whithout the outboard reverb tank. It is not too heavy to cart around.I havent changed any tubes yet, only had it about 8 months. To me it is worth it to pay a higher price for a handwired amp because I have had problems whith pcb board amps in the past. Also, I only buy models based on the 50's to 70's, and I want them to be as close to original to the golden age originals. As always, try one out if you can. Also, Living so far away from a music store as I do, I've found that I can usually type in a product I am interested in on youtube, and there will usually be someone demoing that piece of equipment. Welcome aboard! nocaster67 November 25th, 2007, 01:16 PM Thanks, teleon. Is that the reissue '63 Reverb Unit that you are using? teleon November 25th, 2007, 03:20 PM Yes, the tweed version.I like it alot. pedalcr8z November 27th, 2007, 12:12 AM I'll help a bit here.........it is truly my desert island amp.........goes from clean to smooth creamy crunch by merely applying a bit more pick pressure. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e51/hifivic/IMG_0309.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e51/hifivic/IMG_0310.jpg My Nocaster sounds awesome through it as well as my McRosie....absolutely stunning amplifier. JimiBryant November 27th, 2007, 01:11 AM I have an actual 1956 tweed Twin, and it's just wonderful. For recording one pretty much adjusts the recording levels and the amp sounds fantastic no matter how it's set - when cranked, the sound is heavenly! this amp makes ANY guitar sound good, and a good guitar sounds great. NO pedals needed when paired with a great Tele or Strat!! I'm partial to Fenders (of course) but a P-90 equipped Gibson is an awesome match for this rig as well as is my Hamer Vector or my Gretsch Round-Up. tazzboy November 27th, 2007, 01:53 AM The is cool when I had my stratocaster I played through it and it sound amazing. Of course I didn't have money to buy it at the time. I know that it has Mercury Magnet Transformers in it. Illinois electrolytics, Xicon polypropelene signal caps, Ceramic small signal spots, Carbon film Resistors Sprague OD PSseries(polyester) It also has Ted Weber's 12A150A Light Dope (I know I have similar speaker in the Pro Reverb.) bluesfordan November 27th, 2007, 01:22 PM very high on my GAS list, not presently in my stable due to relatively recent arrival on scene = still not in the bargain stage used, yet. I've played the 2 that have been in our local GC, apparently exceeding the sales quota for the year. Why they don't get mroe is beyond me. The two that they've had lasted less than a couple of weeks. They both sounded fantastic, the best 'new' amp I've ever played, imho. All I can think of is that maybe they didn't make as much money on them as the other stuff. I ain't buying that pcb crap anymore, had too many headaches with it. |
