Who uses their powerblock for a guitar amp?

Crazy idea huh?

i bought a crate powerblock after so many recommendations of their usefulness as a bass amp and much ebay scouring.

Im very pleased, thanks guys!

Im also finding it great for guitar as it seems to like almost any speaker i throw at it with some EQ twiddling. it has now replaced my enormous and heavy peavey 2x12 as my 'just in case' loud amp. (ive got nothing else over 40w)

Reason Im posting this is I haven't heard as much praise from guitar players for this tiny wonder, and Id like to hear other peoples experiences and opinions.

Anyone use it for guitar on a gigging basis?

I use it often as a practice amp.

I have so many amps in my amp room that it is often the lightest and easiest to just plug into a cab without digging through the other amps.

My gal dislikes it for Bass, but her taste in Bass tone is drastically different than mine anyway.

Pretty decent crunch for a SS amp. It'll be a backup regardless of sound, since its so lightweight and can pull double duty as a Bass or Guitar amp in a pinch.

The simulated speaker in the DI sucks really bad though.

I use mine for guitar, however as a headphone amp. I bought it from Turnkey when they were being cleared out for £49. I like being able to turn knobs rather than buttons and scrolling for volume and tone adjustments. Would like to find a 1x12" cab though. Never could find the matching GT112SL cab here in the U.K.

I used mine at first as a bass head, but it's more and more become a guitar heard. I have a BOSS FDR-1 (Fender Deluxe Reverb) pedal that I put in front on it for effects and flavor. It's basically a one-model modeling amp. The PowerBlock is great with it -- lots of... well... Power! I primarily use it through a GK 4x10 bass cab, even for guitar).

I bought mine to be used as a stereo amp for my POD 2.0. I even made a 2x10 cabinet for it, but I have not found 2 4 ohm 10" speakers cheap enough for me yet. They will present themselves eventually. I have used it mono without the POD, but I just can't get a warm sound that gets me inspired. I will keep it, because it's the lightest amp I own.

I carry it as a spare in case the "amp" portion of by Blues Deluxe dies on a gig. Fortunately it hasn't been needed yet...

Hey I had that idea too, stick wither the FDR or bassman pedal in front of it for added flavor!

Would you not be able to run a 4 or 8 ohm load on the powerblock (through the stereo outs). I would have thought it would cope ok with a couple of 8ohms attached, doesnt it say 4ohm minimum?

I saw a guy who duct-taped a FDR pedal to the top of the Powerblock and used it as his main rig. Sounded surprisingly fine. Looked kinda funky, though ...
