79 Washburn Bass

I bought a Washburn bass today and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It's a neckthrough design with a single pickup that sounds somewhere between a p-bass and an old music man. I get from the serial number which is 7991B that it is a '79 (the first year washburn made electrics i believe) but I can't figure out the model. It's got ash wings, bound top sunburst top, brass saddles and nut. Anybody familiar? I'll post pictures when i get my wife's camera later. I was pleasantly surprised by the price.

Now I need an amp. I played through a Vox T-25 and a T-60 yesterday and to my surprise, both sounded pretty good....especially for the price. I'll probably go with the T-60 as it was louder and cheaper to boot. The look real cool and oldschool too!

Cool bass - what's the weight ? That's the ticket with the old Matsumoku instruments. I've never held one less than 10 lbs, most have been upwards of that. Not bad for around the house or recording as some of those have a 'respect mah authority' voice to them - but heavier than you would want to swing on a 3 hour bar date ...

That one is as pretty as any I've seen. It's a beautiful instrument actually.
