On larger fender amps there are two inputs (like you didn't know that). What exactly is the purpose of this? Can I plug two guitars in and wail with no worry for the amp? This is a SF Princeton I'm referring to btw. Why is the 2 input not as loud as the 1 input.

Input 2 is lower gain. You can plug 2 instruments into your Princeton, and people did that quite a bit way back when playing was substantially quieter, but playing 2 guitars into a PR at today's levels pushes it pretty hard for an amp that was even when new considered a student model.

Thanks Dave.
Anyone else have some thoughts on the matter?

I've actually started to use the #2 input on a Deluxe Reverb for guitars with hotter pickups, and use the #1 for Tele's and Strats.
It works pretty good.
