A great big thanks to the people here who recommended Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe Guitars. I have been looking for the right pickups to best amplify the voice of my black walnut Ric-style guitar and wasn't having much luck. All the pickups I tried sounded decent, and the guitar has a very good voice to it, but I couldn't get it dialed in just right.

Taking my fellow forumites advice, I contacted Pete Biltoft and explained my situation. I placed an order. The service was incredibly fast and the pickups so far meet all my expectations. They truly reflect the conversation we had on the phone and I feel like I have finally finished this guitar, even though I completed the wood work more than a year ago.

I know I sometimes have a lot to say, but that doesn't mean I'm not listening too! Thanks guys. Great recommendation!

Gig report:

I had the chance to play these pickups at a gig last night and they sound terrific! Finally, this guitar has reached it's potential and had it's voice released. Vintage Vibe, Pete Biltoft did a great job, provided great service and I couldn't be happier!

The last thing I wanted to do was open up the pickup cavities on this guitar. That's when someone here suggested Pete Biltoft's mini-hum sized P90's.

I had a set of SD Antiquities in there first. Not bad, but too bright. Then I got a great deal on a set of Gibson mini humbuckers from a 1968 Les Paul Deluxe. Sounded pretty good but much brighter than the SD's and a bit harsh at certain frequencies.

I told Pete about the brightness, playing style, and what I wanted from the guitar and he dialed it right in! Great service!

Here's the guitar with the new pickups. Here, this one ought to get the Hall Monitors fired up. LOL!
