Strat Headcount!!!

The "Strat Why?" thread got me wondering how many people at a mainly tele forum have strats. I was using only a Strat before I started lurking here and finally got a tele. I couldn't find a strat count in the search. So lets see how far this goes.


Copying Volvoguy's intro to the tele count thread for luck...

It doesn't have to be a Fender, just something that you can justify calling a strat.

Lets have no discussion or anything here, just a straight number crunching time. One post per person etc, unless you have to update your number.
We keep a running total, so I start with my 1.

1994 Am Std Strat, 40th Anniversary edition with the little badge on the headstock. Black w/maple neck, VanZandt Blues pickups, otherwise stock. Tremolo arm is off and springs tightened just enough to secure the bridge.

The tremolo works great on this guitar, BTW. I just disable it because I am so accustomed to tele-style multiple-string bending which goes out of tune if the bridge moves. You know the story.

I really like this guitar, it's big, twangy sound is loads of fun. Ain't no Tele, though.

1986 Squire Strat. Why? Because I was 16 in 1986 and wanted a black Squire strat but only could afford and Aria Pro II Stray Cat (still a good starter electric). I bought this one in '95, traded it to a friend a year later, tried to get it back for 10 years, finally got it back last year. It has a Li'l '59 for Tele in the bridge position.

50th Anniversary 2-tone (with Lace sensor pups in it). I took the original p/g and electronics off and placed it in a protective box. The Laces I put on a Warmoth p/g and added pots and a switch and just dropped it in. I have another one I just built with Lace Holy Grails on it that I am going to try.

The other is a Tom DeLonge MiM body I bought off eBay for $25. I bought it because it was a hard tail and came with the bridge. I have an 80s Squire rosewood neck with the large 70s headstock (painted black). I use it for trying out different pups. Right now it has a set of Fender Hot Noiseless that I really like. The body has cracked paint, and a large section by the jack place has chipped off. Really ugly, but she plays well.

Neck and body polished out, Gotoh klusons with conversion bushes installed, claw tightened, perhaps another spring in order, with D'Addario 10-46s.

Edit: No fourth spring needed, raised saddles, lowered pups more, tightened trem claw more, installed 6 hardened mount screws from Callaham Guitars, shined her more while the bridge was off. Next set is 9 or 9.5.

For the record, the white on the body has more of a yellow component to it than what you're seeing. It's just that the flash was too bright and washed it out.

Thaus, it genuinely is PINK. :lol: A Shell Pink MIM Classic '60s actually - probably one of the last few to come out of the Ensenada factory in late 2004. Fender dropped this colour at the beginning of 2005 (just as they did in the early '60s), in favour of Candy Apple Red.

Rob, the sunburst looks great. You'd be proud of me, when I tadeo'd a Squier 51 neck to go on a USACG Tele body, off came all the ink on the headstock, every little bit. Looks great, much more correct doing the Tadeo shaping without having to avoid the serial number, which is now printed on the heel.

Here's one of two Am Se 60th Commemorative Strats I got at a very fair price, both alder sunburst, both with rosewood boards. Plan to install Callaham saddles and block on at least one, A/B it against the other.

The pale rings around the Gotoh 'kluson' tuners and bushes is not from the maple being crushed, the wood is fine. It is simply that the rest of the wood on the headstock has been working on a suntan for 18 months.

- Oly white MIM with maple board and gold pickguard. Never thought I'd own a Strat till I played this guitar. It sort of spoke to me in Sam Ash. I had to buy it. One of the RARE occaisions, I've bought a guitar in an actual music store. :wink:

- Burst MIM with rosewood board and tortoise pickguard. Traded a Charvel Tele copy for it. Hated the Charvel, and a teenage kid offered the Strat in trade. I pretty much agreed only because it was a "Fender", and anything was better than that Charvel. Ended up falling in love with it.
