Boss TU2 as pedal power source - any good?

After a half-dozen years of playing, I'm only now getting into pedals. My first pedal was a Dan-Echo. Like it. Then got a Fulltone Fulldrive. Love it. I'm contemplating a few more pedal purchases. (wah, trem, reverb). Which got me thinking more seriously about, "How should I power all these things."

I was thinking of making my next pedal-related purchase a VooDoo Labs power brick. Then I noticed that the TU2 can be used to power a chain of pedals. Which leads me to my question:

How good is it at doing that? (As a tuner, it's just fine.)

I use mine to power my Ibanez OD and delay pedals and my revolving "free spot" on my board (for the odd fuzz or flanger or something...). Works great, but the daisy chain cable needs some bread ties or something to keep the spaghetti issue at bay.

Seems like it would be fine as long as the combined current draw of the other pedals didn't exceed the power output of the adapter minus the draw from the TU-2. Assuming it's probably a standard 200ma adapter.

A VS OneSpot or a Godlyke PowerAll will give you more power capacity & take up a little less space than the Boss wall wart. Plus, the OneSpot daisy chain has nice right-angle plugs (very cool if you're limited for space on your pedalboard).

Has not been my experience.....I have used the TU-2 with a 1 spot to run 6-7 pedals for the last two years of playing in crappy bars with bad power and did not notice any noise at all......works for me.....
but I keep my wah and fuzzes away from it all......

Just quoting from another thread Larry, I can't say one way or the other. I got mine last night and they didn't have the cable accessory to hook up to the other pedals. I'll go back in a couple of weeks and pick one up.

All the TU2 has is an power output jack that you can run a daisy chain to power other effects,the TU2 doesn't "power" anything really, that is up to whatever power supply you use with it.
I have used my TU2 with a daisy chain and it worked fine, I didn't notice any extra noise, however I did pick up a One Spot not long ago and I like it better with the longer cable and the right angle plugs (as mentioned)

been doing this with a PlanetWaves tuner stomp for quite some time....works great....no noise at all....TU2 is designed to use to power other stuff with a daisy chain; if there is noise going on i would imagine the problem is elsewhere...

I had a descussion with my local guitar shop guy about this as I have been looking at the TU2 vs MXR Brick. His take is that it is possible to run into grounding issues when using a daisy chain type power source, the issue is not the power but rather pedal (ground) compatability issues. The Bricks seperate power/ground solves any compatability issues between the pedals.
With that said I may still go with the TU2, I'd like an AC powered tuner for my upcomming pedal board anyways.
