Since I have a reborn infatuation with the JBL speaker I went ahead and ordered one for the new DRRI I just got. Hoping it will be here by the end of the week.

I'll post back after I've played it a bit.

I just got my new speaker cabinet for a 15" NeoMag. I'm setting it up tonight. I've got two 12" JBLs (D120F), one of which is in a BFDR and I've gotten a new baffle board for my BFPR to try the other one. Anyhow, I'll report back when I've had a chance to use the new 15" NeoMag on a couple of gigs.

One of my amps is a Carvin Vintage 16 with JJ tubes and a Weber 15w 12" Bluedog It sounds Fantastic but I've always wondered about a JBL Alnico

So when I get payed I think I'll get a 12" Neomag since I do a lot af Country, Country Rock and Blues

Just remembered this thread. I finally got my neomag 12" from Weber. They had supply chain problems and it took awhile to get it. I had originally intended to put it in a DRRI.

I know this will sound like heresy to some but I ended up putting the NeoMag in my Lil Dawg D-Lux. In the wait for the speaker I came across an actual JBL D-120f for cheap and I put that in my DRRI and it sounds phenomenol in that amp.

The D-Lux presented me with some problems because I got it in a TV front cab that didn't allow enough room for many speaker options. The original Jensen (Recoton) actually sounded good. I tried a Weber 12A125 and to my surprise it was farty and overly bright (first disappointment with a Weber speaker). I've been using an Eminence 122 which actually sounded pretty good but a little thin.

When I got the NeoMag with its barely over 3" depth I thought I'd give it a whirl in the Tweed. Well, it's turned out to be perfection. Lot more bottom, more depth, volume and headroom. I was a little worried because I heard that the neo type speakers are usually real bright and this amp is already kinda bright. But if anything the Neomag is darkish (not muddy at all though, great clarity). With my Gibson I have to really push the tone knob up into previously uncharted territory. With the Telecasters it's just right. This has made a great amp even better and I'm done messing with speakers for awhile.

If I hadn't got the JBL I think this speaker would've worked great in my DRRI as well. Some criticize the JBL type speakers for sounding sterile. This speaker is not that way at all (for that matter my "real" JBL is not sterile sounding either). While you do get great clarity it also has a nice warm musical quality. A little pricey (and kinda heavy) but a very good speaker IMO.
