6G2 was a 'bust:' So I took the road less traveled...

...and bought a '66 BF Dual Showman with a '66 Bandmaster 2X12 cab.

I know, totally the other end of the spectrum from the 6G2 Princeton, but...

Yesterday the 6G2 arrived totally busted up from USPS Priority Mail! The seller, who happens to be a TDPRI member, was completely cool about it and refunded me the money and I'm shipping the Princeton back as we speak. So, needless to say, I was seriously disappointed yesterday and headed out to the local vintage shops to cure my ills.

I played BF Twins, Pro's some Princeton Reverbs and some Fender Browns...all very nice amps but well out of my price range. In the corner there was a tall amp stack that was the Dual Showman.

I couldn't believe what I heard when I turned it on...really nice, warm clean tones with that great BF Fender chime. I had always thought that you had to really crank the crap out of these amps to get good tone (at least that's what I've heard) but on 4-5 on the dial its as good as any great BF Fender I've heard...I did turn it up to 7 for a second, and whoa!!! Lookout. It seemed to increase two-fold in volume between 5 and 7 on the dial, and I got some amazing psych-rock tones with my NoCaster!

Scored it for a nice price and couldn't be happier. The amp is in great condition and all original. A fine example, for sure.

Any other Showman players here? Doesn't seem to be a lot of talk about them on the forums.

That sounds great and congrats.

But I just want to ask for a brief moment of silence for a 6G2 destroyed by the US Postal Service.

I tried one at Al's Guitarville, I tired to try one at trading musician but it was not right, a few years back
