Curious how others place their stomp boxes when using more than one in the effects chain? The way I usually end up plugging them in is in a a mild to wild sequence ie: guitar - mild overdrive - distortion - heavy fuzz - other effects - amp going from the lighter effect into the harsher one. Any other methods?

I only use one distortion, but I know that some people who use overdrives (such as a Tube Screamer) as a boost place it at the end of their chain, to boost the volume of their overall tone, effects and all. Also to make up for signal loss.

I prefer Wild to Mild- it is much better for boosting a heavily overdriven sound for solos.
The other way you just get more noise, mush and no difference in level.

Fuzz first! Ge. FF gives you differing amounts of dirt OD to Fuzz by varying your volume pot. If you put it after a buffer it kills this dynamic.

Volume > Wah > Distortion > Tone Bender > Fuzz > Chorus in that order ( for now )

Until about 2 days ago, I was running the board with the wah first, but I discovered this sounds better-
Bad Monkey- English Muff'n- DS1- Wah- other effects
Still not happy with the position of the DS1 though.

have changed to this chain and using the Monkey for boost when needed this scenario seems to punch thru the mix: Guitar > Black Licorice Metal > Fab Distortion > DOD Tube Overdrive > Digitech Bad Monkey > then Flange, Chorus, Delay, ??.....

I put my dirty sounding pedals first, the cleaner ones afterwards.

Yep dirty to clean for me. It gives you way more control and different tones. I go fuzz->distortion-> then my overdrives.
