(pun intended  ) Anyway, his debut CD, titled "Australia" has a DVD in it that shows him playing four acoustic songs. What's amazing about it is Howie's equipment usage. He has an army of stomp pedals and Line 6 delay modelers, he even uses a delay on his voice! He builds his songs piece by piece, starting by beating out a rhythm on the front of his Takamine and looping it, then a little motif on a high string and then that repeats... Then he does a *few* etherial vocal lines... He has some Ibanez Soundtank pedal that makes his low E string sound like a bass guitar... You get the picture.
Anyway, it's very cool what he does. Check it out.

I listen to that CD all the time here at work and I like playing his songs. I happened to see him live on PBS one Sunday and man! he's got like 6 delay pedals!!!! He was playing all by himself but using the effects to make loops that allowed him to do small solos, fills, and stuff like that. He's only 22!!!!!
By the way, his new CD "Madrigal" should be on the market right now....I'll just wait until I can find it used on spun.com....

"Madrigal" is the EP with the DVD with the 4 solo pieces in it. (That statement had a lot of prepositional phrases in it!) His LP that was just released is called "Stop all the World Now" and it also has a DVD with it with some behind-the-scenes, get-to-know-the-real-Howie stuff. Cool anyway... it's got a scene where he does a hometown open-mic night performance. And the music is great, coming-of-age kinda things... sorta like John Mayer's major label debut (another MONSTER acoustic and Strat player! )
"Mad..." was only like $8 at Circuit City. I'd pick it up while you can still get the DVD.
Thanks for piping up, Raymond. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Thanks for the info Primo. I have one question.
In your first post, you said,
his debut CD, titled "Australia" has a DVD in it
Did you mean that I should have a DVD with my CD? If that's the case I got screwed....
BTW, if you like acoustic stuff, I recommend listening to Any Stochansky. His latest CD is called "5 star Motel" and it's very good. The one before I think is called "Radio fusebox" or something like that but it's impossible to find! I've tried every used-cd place on the net and nothing...I've heard songs from that CD in PBS and I really dig his style and lyrics.

I'm sorry, I was mistaken about the Australia CD, Madrigal has the DVD.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out. ...And one for you-Jason Mraz. His debut single, Remedy, is all over pop radio, but his early acoustic stuff is wildly entertaining.
