hey everyone how ya doin'? I need some advice on replacement pickup for my nashville tele. i replaced the fender noisless bridge and neck with muy grande for telecaster. my middle pickup which i believe to be a fender doesnt really mix with these two very well. anyone have any sugestions as to what would be a good replacement? i have a 5way switch so i can get the middle pickup by itself so i want one that matches well with the bridge and can give me the sound of a strat for srv tone. any help???

Stay with Rio Grande and get a Halfbreed. I've got the dual calibrated set, which is a Tallboy neck, Halfbreed middle and Muy Grande bridge, and I gotta tell ya, the bridge/middle position is the bee's knees and the middle by itself is pretty darn good, too. How do you like the MG in the neck?

i really like the tone of my neck pickup. how ever when i combine the middle and the nec it really gets too dark so i dont use that position at all. the neckpickup is rwrp and i think my middle is also. dont know if that has any bearing on my tone or not.is the middle mg pickup you speak of rwrp also?

Have a look at a SD Hotstack middle pickup for a Strat. They are
very popular for this use in a Tele as they are high output, and can
keep up with the Tele bridge pickup. No problem with string bends
either as it is one piece right across the Pick up. I use them with a
five way, and the middle postion is just the middle Hotstack on
it's own and gives me a good Stat tone on my Tele. The Bridge
and Middle Hotstack gives a nice Tele quack also, re. the Steve Warnier sound ?

You might also consider removing the middle pickup ftom the tone circuit, ala Jimmy Vaughan strat. That really makes that one come alive, & could create some other interesting 2 & 4 sounds, especially on a tele.
That being said, I've left both my Nashville & my JV pickups stock. I have five teles, none with the traditional tele pickup configuration, and many others with pickup mods. I just seem to like the way the Nash & JV sound on their own accord.
