Not wanting to rehash the nitro vs. poly debate, but I was curious if any one can offer a comparison between the amount of poly Fender uses on its body compared to someone like Warmoth. My 50th Am Series seems to have been finished with a very, very thick layer of poly. I can hear the argument that sonically there isn't much difference between nitro and poly finish, but with such a thick layer that my guitar seems to have, I have to wonder. Warmoth advertises that they use a thin coat of poly only and there really isn't a difference tone wise between nitro and poly. Does any manufacturer make a replacement body with a true nitro finish? I've hear even the new vintage thin-skin re-issues aren't quite accurate at replicating a true old school fender finish.
