Does it mean the more open the grain of the wood of the body is the more twang you've got? The lighter it is the more twang you've got?
Cauz I have found this beautiful open grainded lefty 52 RI, do get more twang with this one than with a 'normal' one?
Thanks.

That's a mighty fine lookin geetar there. It would be a shame and a sin if it didn't sound as good as it looks.
If I could tell by looking at the grain which body would offer the best twang, I'd either be swimming in money or some crowd would be pushing me off the bridge, accusing me of being a charlatan.
I haven't met the guy I felt could answer your question.

Actually, anyone can see that blank is full of right handed graining; never should've been made into a left hand guitar.

Mine is more open than that but I can't say it has more twang than a 'closed grain' one cause I don't have one to compare with.
That thing still has all the case candy so I'm thinking you haven't bought it yet.
I got my lefty in Febuary, special order, the neck finish was uncured so that after a few minutes of playing as the neck heated up the finish became sticky and you could no longer play it. It wasn't until just last month that I could use it for a bit, now it's good for about 3 hours.
As my hands had become rough as sandpaper from working in the garden I'm not sure if the finish finally cured or I wore it off.
At any rate if I were in your boots I'd try to play the thing for a spell to try to determine if that one features the sticky neck (google this - lots of hits).

Wood is wood.
Twang is twang.
I'm not real convinced there is a connection between the two.
If it is possible, play the thing and see if if "speaks" to you.
You'll know soon enough if it is one of the ones that belong in your hands.
Really!

Thanks.
I have just read it some were that there's a connection between wood grain and twang. So I am mostly wrong.
But what do you think about the 52 RI in general? Is it all that crack up to be?
I mean Fender doesn't tel the whole story, the say it's totally like the original. But it simply isn't, it has a TWO piece ash body and there's a poly coat under the nitro.
But everthing I've read about it and spoke to simply adores the damn thing.
I really would like to play it first, but sins I am left handed (and live in Holland) there's no way I can try one out before I get a change of buying it. Because these things are very very rare in my country, you won't find them in any store.
So I have to order one myself, I can only go by pictures.
And as for the sticky neck, it just comes with the nitro territory. I have an Gibson SG Standerd and it was stick for about a month, after that it's silky smooth.
Thanks again.
