anyone know what tuning David Crowder uses for come thou fount? Kinda sounds like DADGAD but his fingerings do not look like dadgad. He also uses on Amazing Grace that I found on you tube.

i've tried that tuning before. be careful, i had to tune the whole guitar down half a step because the D will snap if you use too heavy a gauge. i didn't play it exactly as it was on the recording, but it had the same kind of sound.. lots of roots and fifths. it's an interesting tuning, and very easy to play.. but not very versatile, i find.

Just FYI for anyone interested... this song came up on the playlist this week, and since my worship leader uses DADF#AD pretty much exclusively, I took it home and tried it out on my open D strat... this song sounds great in DAF#AD and even better with a little sporadic, subtle slide thrown in here and there on the melody... lots of possibilities!
I just thought i'd throw that out there...

Interesting to hear. I've only played that song in that tuning with a slide following the melody. Now I'll have to try fingerings. It never stops...
