CRL 1454 Switches

I'm in the middle of building a homebrew Esquire and I have an old CRL 1454 three-way switch that I want to use. New switches always feel so flimsy compared to the old stuff.

Is it true that Fender, in rare instances, used these? And will the smaller wiper cause problems over time?

...The smaller tab in time may cause a mis-connection because of wear.

...The standard 1452 is more forgiving in time because of the wider tab.
