I thought exactly the same! Maybe we should visit this guy and "borrow" an AC-30. I don't think he would notice it...

Man, what a collection...

That pic of Carl has been floating around for years. I;ve heard that most of those amps are sold off now.

That really is not fair - I'm not that fussed about the Marshalls (honestly, I know it's borderline heretical, but I honest do prefer the Marshall MG series FDD valve-emulation jobs to the old 'uns) but all those AC30's... I always stuck with Vox years ago when all the hairy guys were playing Marshall, and the AC30TB still has to be one of the loveliest amps ever made, goes with Fender (Tele or Strat - those were my Strat days) like bacon & eggs, or possibly Les Paul and JTM45?

If I were to go out and buy a new Vox, though, it'd have to be an AC15TBRX... and I might just do that. You see playing live I run a small amp (currently a StarFire Mega 10, which has a tone like a bell, but isn't so subtle or controllable on overdrive) line out into a 300W+300W PA through a 16/2 desk, so a 15W amp with a really fine tone would be ideal... the AC15TBRX has a line out, as does the Marshall MG15DFX. H'mm...

(I really do hope it doesn't come down to money, since the then the choice is already made, the Marshall being so much cheaper.)

Still doesn't help looking at that man's wall of Voxes, though...

and think it sounds great. For £139, how wrong can you go? Gotta be worth a shot for the smaller one!

"He turned me into a newt!" Oh, sorry.

I should do a pic like that using photoshop and some pics of amps off ebay... but that would require effort.

There were a number of collections of vintage amps that were that large or larger....one was made up of nothing but Thomas Vox! Remember during the '70s and early '80s you could buy Voxes, Tweed/Brown Fenders, Selmers, and early Marshalls for next to nothing..they were simply used amps, and were considered to be lacking in "modern" features, so were little in demand...still that is a lot of amps even at 1-200 a pop.

passing on a a '64 Blackface Vibroverb for $170.00!
just missing a '64 Deluxe Reverb for $325.00!
Buying a '68 Dripguard Deluxe Reverb for $350.00!
Buying a '68 Dripguard Showman TFL5000D for $175.00
Trading a '78 Peavey Classic for a '64 Fender Pro!!
passing on a '58 Fender Pro for $425.00!

But the one that still haunts me is a rough white Tolex W/
Wheat Grillcloth Fender Twin that my pal Bill Broderick owned and sold to a guy from the band "Truth". What did we know? We were kids.
and many others that I've forgotten about (probably some kind of defense mechinism.) !!

As far as "The Collection" yeah even with a house that size it must be a real pain in the butt moving around !
I'm sure glad for him it didn't start rainin'!!! You could sell those amps off and buy a mansion in The Tropics !!!

The TDPRI of the recording set. Great bunch over there.
A little less tidy, but I like it. Plus you get a free magazine.
