I have the Texas Specials in my alder tele and they sound great!!

+1 on the SD. Would also give highest rec. to the Lindy Fralin broadcaster hybrid, have one and it sings!.

I've been running GFS Lil Punchers in my two tele's and I am knocked out with the tone. I'm really in love with the neck pickup as it has this really smokey blues kinda tone that makes you wanna dig in and turn in on when soloing.

I think the Nocaster tip the scale into Rolling Stones category. IMO.

(I don't think he put GFS in the list Too bad, I am a big fan as well)

i know Fralins are great but they 're out of my budget. Rolling Stones or Springsteen sound orientation would be nice!

I've tried a bunch of pickups, as most have, and have come to the conclusion that there are some really good "low priced" pickups out there that rival the more expensive boutiques. Case in point...Tonerider and GFS. From personal experience and having both, I would highly recommend either one of them. I don't think you can beat the Toneriders. I also love the SD Broadcaster.

i play blues, southern, boogie.

i had the SD 54 in my highway1, SD broadcaster, van Zandt, rockinger, dimarzio pre b1, stock pickups and ended now with a set of twang kings. i like them most.

what i like with to TKs is the dynamic, very balanced, suiteable for my needs and reasonably price. they react best of the use volume or tone.

in my case i cant decide if i like the 50's or 60's sound more. The TKs are somewhere in between, i hear the neck mor 60' and the bridge more 50'. i had to deal some time with the high adjustment of both pus.

for some time i had the TK neck in combination with the SD 54 and broadcaster. i liked the 54 more cause of his bite, the broadcaster was to flat soundig for me. but many players here named the combination of TK neck und broadcaster their favorite.

Aside from Fender's '52 RI P/U's, most of my experience is with the TKs. My Mahogany Tele fairly sings with it's TK set. I'd describe it as having more of an early 60's tone with it's AlNiCo V magnets.
It's great for clean Bakersfield music, but has surprised me at how well it'll grunt and sweat when played through my old Vibro Champ with the amp set to 7 or so! Keef would surely appreciate tone like this.
BTW, I'm praising DiMarzio Twang Kings despite the fact that they're made in NYC! :lol:
