I wrote a new tech note on Understanding Guitar Effects Pedal Switching Circuits (http://terrydownsmusic.com/technotes/pedal_circuits/pedal_circuits.htm). This is Volume 9 of T's Technical Notes (http://terrydownsmusic.com/technotes/TECH.HTM). I used PSPICE analysis to show how the bypass switching works on a typical Boss or Ibanez pedal. I figured I better write it all down before I forget it. I thought you pedal folks would find it interesting.

Terry, my problem with your posts is that they are just not very scientific!
Kidding of course. That was an excellent read, and thank you very much for taking the time to document your various bench test findings over the years, as well as for your curious nature and ongoing commitment toward continuing education. You Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Tim,
You are too kind. I just like to write stuff down when I do an analysis like that so I don't forget what I did. If I'm going to take the time to do write document it, I might as well share it on the innermess (that is "internet" in Fuzzy speak) in the event it could be useful to someone else.
YOU are a gentleman and a scholar!!

Great paper.
Too bad hard facts have never settled a discussion of "tone"...

Thanks. Good point. This is more about switching techniques as opposed to components affecting the signal path.
