Where can I find a custom control plate?

I have a Tele and I want to change control plate. I want to leave the switch where it is and have a single volume knob centered between where the volume and tone knobs used to be. Does anyone know where I can get a control plate like this? I guess I could simply remove the tone knob and drill a new hole for the volume knob, but that would leave two ugly holes in the control plate. Thanks!!

I don't think you're going to find a control plate like that unless you have one made up as a special order from a place like Glendale or Callaham. Could cost a bit. You could put some big screw heads in the holes. I did that once to cover a hole left by a mini-pot someone had installed on this ASAT Classic. I glued the screw head on using E-6000 glue. Household Goop is similar. These glues remain flexible and would allow removal at a later time.

Or...if you have an Ace Hardware near you...go to their loose Hardware aisle, where they have all the metal compartmented boxes...and look for Trim Holes Plugs in Chrome or Plastic...should be 3/8" for Regular Fender..5/16" for Asian stuff.

The guys at Guitarfetish SWEAR they've got some un-slotted blanks coming. They are not on the site yet, though.

Callaham stocks blank plates. Send Bill a drawing and he'll quote a price. Very straight old-school guy, easy to do business with.

jay at gfs is saying that it's coming, he's talking to some manufacturers but no word on when he says so i take that to mean that theyre waiting for the manufacturers to make them and ship them over. this is for blank plates btw

Alot of people overlook this. You can find a machine shop in your area that will cut out a polished or brushed stainless steel control plate or neck plate for a few bucks.
Local machine shop made me a control plate, cut the switch slot and drilled all the holes, total cost was $10. They have one of my bridge plates now to duplicate out of polished SS.

Melecaster .................. good call on the trim hole plugs. I found these at Lowes. This old plate is scratched from knobs rubbing on it but This could be a real clean look on a new plate.
