American Deluxe Strat, What Do You Think?

I was in a local music store today and found a American Deluxe Strat that I fell in love with. It's a three tone sunburst with rosewood fret board. This is not the first strat I've played with the SCN pickups and S-1 system. Although I thought the other strats I've played with this set up sounded good, none sounded anywhere near as good as this one. no matter what setting I had it on, it was fantastic. The set up is perfect and it almost plays itself. I have been looking for a new strat. but was going to buy a MIM. Now I've got to shell out $1200.

What do you think. I'd like to hear the pros and cons of this guitar. Don't be bashful. You won't hurt my feelings.

That's the same exact guitar I have, the sunburst with rosewood. I love mine as well. The only problem I had was that the middle pickup fried on me, but that was most likely just random chance, and it was covered by the warranty. It's a great guitar, so if you can shell out the $$$, go for it.

What, you think we're actually going to discourage you from buying a fine guitar that you're in love with? What planet are you on man?

I bought the Deluxe. It was even better today when I played it.

The form fitted plastic case that comes with it had a bent lip. they said They could have Fender send a new case "OR" I could have a Fender rectangular black tolex with the large chrome Fender logo on the front and Red plush interior. Hmm, What to do? HA HA! No Contest. I hate those plastic cases with the aluminum edge.

I love Deluxe Strats. I got a great deal on a used '98 in Crimson Transparent.

Enjoy yours...

P.S. I think they are supposed to come with the rectangular black case with the red plush interior. That's what mine came with.

Maybe in '98. but now they are coming with the black plastic molded case with the aluminum edge that interlocks. It has no room in it for straps, cables and the other goodies. It's junk. If they had not given me the "Good Case", I would have sold the plastic case and bought a decent case.

Montyphoto, I did the best I could with price negotiating. I could get the same model at GC and save $250. The problem is, it may be the same model, but it's not the same guitar. Besides, the case they gave me really eased the price difference. There's no doubt that GC gets better prices from Fender than the Mom and Pop stores. In reality, they can't compete price wise. The only thing they can do is offer first class customer service and make sure the instrument is set up properly. The price also included a set up by a very good luthier. GC charges extra for setups and the tech they use is terrible.

All that said, I buy a lot of gear from GC because of the prices. I would have done the same with the Deluxe Strat if this one hadn't been so damn good.

Well that really sucks. I got one of those molded ones with my MIA Tele. It's OK, but when you're spending that kind of dough on a Deluxe you would think they'd give you a deluxe case with it.

I have one too, and love it. I bought a used 2006 last fall at GC. It came with the middle pickup replaced with a Fender Vintage Noiseless. I wonder if the previous owner had a problem with his middle pickup? Anyways, I replaced it with an SCN off ebay and haven't had a problem since.
