A Delta Tone pickups known for being noisy?

I have owned a few Teles and have never had a big issue with pickup noise. I get used to what noise there is and it doesn't bother me. I find the Delta Tones in my American Series REALLY noisy though. They are actually decent sounding pickups, but just ridiculously noisy. I have read a few mentions of the same thing at Harmony Central, but to some people any noise is too much noise so it's hard to know how to read into that. Does anyone know if these are 'noisier then average'?

You are talking about the stock pickups in a stock American Series Tele, right?

If so, they don't have any more noise than any other single coil pickup.

AmSer are paint shielded at the factory. They spay the shielding and then spray the finish over the top of it. Then they sink a screw into the body cavity to ground it to the volume pot.

Because the paint shield is just a thin layer, at times, the screw just does not make contact with the shield. What you should do is open up your control cavity and break out the finish paint down to the black shield where the screw goes and then put it all back together and see if that helps.
