Oh No, not another 4-way problem! Rob? Fuzzy?

I've just installed the Fender 4-way mod on my avri52,, and I'm really sure I've wired it right, acording to the enclosed diagram, with clarrification from the Seymour Duncan site. It's what Rob calls the 'standard' 4-way wiring. I've lifted the ground on the Neck PUP, and attached a new one from the cover to the Vol pot.

The problem is that positions 3 and 4 both just give the neck PUP on its own. Any thoughts on where i may have gone wrong? It could be a faulty switch, but this must be very rare. Any thoughts very greatly appreaciated.

More than likely, you have forgotten to connect a jumper or something..

Could it be that you didn't cut the ground wire on the bridge pup?

Will post a pic later today. Sorry, should have done straight off.

I snipped the ground wire on the neck. Do I need to do something to the Bridge PUP as well?

Could be you've got the switch turned 180.

I've got two different types of 4 ways and I'm forever getting them mixed up.

The reference drawings on the net can be misleading in that the double line on the drawing may refer to the metal side or the 'plastic' side.

I've got screwing up this installation down to such a science now I just put the testers on and trace things out before I plug in the iron.

The Wrong way round? You know, I bet that's it. I kind of assumed that it was symetrical, in the same way as a 3-way, but on closer inspection I can see it isn't. Should have had the multi-meter out first. Cheers guys, will switch it and let you know the results,

Well, now I have:
1. Bridge
2. Bridge
3. Nothing
4. Neck and Bridge.

Time to dissassemble and start again

Okay, cold solder joint to the back of the Vol pot. Doh!

I think 6 was right about it being in reverse.
