HELP with GFS pickups!

Hi guys,

I just put a set of GFS lil' punchers in my tele and have found that I am having problems getting an even string response without radically radiusing the strings over the pickup (the high E is especially quiet). Has anyone run into this problem or come up with any solutions?

thanks!

And how close is the High E, and the rest of the strings, to the pup? I can't see from here ;-)

No experience, but you'll see many posts referring to this very problem here and at TGP. I don't necessarily think there IS a solution, other than doing what you're doing. Bardens, which these are supposedly based on, usually have 500k or 1meg pots vs. the standard 250k. Good luck!

this isn't going to be helpful, but the set I got works just fine. In fact, from a strictly visual perspective, the high and low e should be weaker, but they aren't. Not sure how I lucked out. I hope you find a solution though!

Hum.. I thought Rails did not have balance problems...

I know that GFS now has a wider "EX" series Puncher, or something like that made for US model string spacing versus import. I imagine you could email Jay and see if he'd let you trade.

It's actually called the "XL". Hope this helps.
