EJ ran out of saddle height!!

Hi guys,
Ive recently setup my half Eric J Strat (EJ fat end/warmoth neck). The neck has lived on a "Blackie" body for the last three years with no problems.

Now i have the odd notes buzzing and fretting out notes at the 12-15th as i bend.
The neck is in need of a proper setup as the last job sucked, but it WAS very usable on Blackie.

The EJ has run out of saddle height adjustment, I do like quite a high action so's i can hit it hard without buzzing but i cant get it high enough. It only need a smidge, maybe two turns on each saddle. The trem is setup floating with the butt 1/8" off the body. Ive checked the neck relief and no joy there.

I was under the impression that the EJ was pretty much the same spec as the EC blackie, body/trem wise?

I would appreciate you thoughts......

Thanks
Trev

You may have to shim the neck and the back end of the body(towards the tuners) to get the proper angle. This will allow you to get the saddles abck down to where they should be.

I had to do this on a Warmoth project blackguard a few years ago. Much to my surprise, after the neck and body settled in, I was able to remove the shim.

I had about the same situation as you described and it took a shim the width of the neck pocket about the thickness of a business card and about 1/2" wide.

Good luck.

Hey TeleTrev
The heigth screws should be standard thread size ( sorry I cant help you with that number cause I dont know what you have).
Why not find the thread size and then go buy some slightly longer ones.
One thing for sure, they dont cost much.

i would shim too. it just takes a little strip that you can cut off a credit (plastic)-card and your strat is good again. just put that little stripe between neck and body just like jerrypro said.
