defaultoprime March 6th, 2007, 09:41 PM Here's the deal, I just picked up this MIM tele here in Milwaukee for $125
most of the hardware is aftermarket, but the body is factory routed for a bucker at the neck... could this guitar have come out of the factory with a bucker in the neck?

Rathmann March 6th, 2007, 09:44 PM Beats the heck out of me, but I don't see why not.
You had mentioned to me that the thing needs some work or more accurately, to be ripped apart and used as a parts guitar.
photoweborama March 6th, 2007, 09:45 PM I don't know the answer, but $125.00 for that!!! that's the price of a cheap Squier!!!!

yea... I know... I've got a project I'm working on and I called my pet store inquiring about a neck for it and the guy starts talking about this basketcase tele that just walked in the door...
The wiring is a bit on the screwy side and there's a big finish crack behind the bridge, but it does work and it plays great... I'm just as stupified as anyone else about the deal... this guitar ain't no basketcase...
0le FUZZY March 6th, 2007, 09:56 PM ...Yes the 95 MIM had a hummer lookin type of P/U inna neck stock.
...Last won I werked on I changed all the controls and the bridge/P/U and put a standard neck P/U in it with new pick guard.
...You got a good price but check for plywood cornstruction cause sum were made of plywood.
...That won don't look stock and I luv that decal new neck?
...Very hard tew tell nowdaze.

defaultoprime March 6th, 2007, 10:23 PM I pulled the neck off... here's a pic... does this tell us anything about the origin of the neck... Fender? ...not Fender?

I know for a fact that the gold hardware came from the store where I bought it... the guy who did it bought it there... and I'm very interested to find that the five way switch is stock...
...this guitar is getting cooler all the time
BritishBluesBoy March 6th, 2007, 10:51 PM this guitar is getting cooler all the time
Mine cost me around $450 last year... You did real good on that one. I'd swap out the gold stuff for chrome and steel and play the snot out of that thing... I'm sure it'll bring a smile to your face....

That guitar of yours... doesn't look like it has the usual tele saddles... is that right?
photoweborama March 6th, 2007, 11:11 PM I'm looking at that and thinking "why can't I get deals like that", then I realized that of my four electrics, I've only paid for one of them...
but still, $125.00...
defaultoprime March 6th, 2007, 11:23 PM ...actually, this is not the first time such things have happened to me
I think it's all about kleen livin' ye know
In this pic you can see a 1964 Gibson GA19RVT Falcon amp... I ran into an old friend from grade school a year and a half ago... it belonged to his wife's late father... he knew I like gear and would use it in my project studio, so they gave it to me... I've gotten some other stuff for stupid deals too... the green strat (MIM Squier) I got from a guy in Puerto Rico... the body and the neck, shipped for $70... I did throw some cash at it and redid it... it's a sweet guitar... don't really know why it works out like this... just sorta happens that way...

Yes that's right. It has a six saddle vintage bridge. Your's would have had the same when it was new... I like it OK... Although I prefer the look of a three saddle one. Some people have problems with these rattling, mine's OK so far though. I was thinking about maybe swapping it out. Haven't quite decided yet...

Oh god... the Deluxe Reverb
defaultoprime March 7th, 2007, 01:05 AM The bridge pickup in this guitar is great!
...one other thing ...we've established that they have a 5-way switch, right? ...does your tone control have a set middle point with stacked pots?
...and if so, you wouldn't know where a guy might pick up a wiring diagram?

Yep... 5 way... stacked pots... set middle point.. that's it... Wiring diagram... Dunno, but I'm sure someone else here can help with that...
Cheers!

mc5nrg March 7th, 2007, 07:13 AM I'd be interested in a wiring diagram,potentiometer values,....that must be a TBX tone control,I guess?
defaultoprime March 9th, 2007, 12:32 AM well... now the guitar is how I really want it to be... the bucker in the neck had gone microphonic, so I got a different pickguard and wired up my magical old Schaller S6... it's hot as hell... wired up with a new 5-way switch... now she's really sounds like I want her to...
all that's left is a fret leveling and the removal of that gold hardware ...err gotta get a black knob now too
...in this pic, you can see the finish crack REAL well ...makes no difference to me
