When was the first Deluxe "Reverb" amp?

With the Vibroverb being the first amp with reverb for Fender (as far as I can tell), was the first Deluxe "Reverb" in late 63' or was it first offered in 64'?
I think it was in the 63'-64' full-line catalog although when was it available for purchase to the public?

Just interested........

Check this out:

I've never seen a 63' Deluxe Reverb in all my 35 years of playing electric guitar.
Does one actually exist??

And then there's this:

http://www.fender-amp.com/timeline.asp

"1963 - Black face is the new look. The twin becomes the classic we know today. The Super Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Vibroverb all immerge. (The Vibro Verb is the first Fender Amp with built in
reverb)"

But then again, If you read this:

http://www.tcguitar.com/articles/gagliano_pt4.html

"An October 1963 Deluxe Reverb was reported with transformers (all Schumacher) all dated to mid-1963, except the reverb drive transformer which dated to December 62! The tube chart indicated the AA763 circuit, but there were some very strange original resistor values inside. Specifically, the reverb drive tube's cathode bias resistor was a 1K, 1-watt, instead of the normal 2.2K, ½-watt. The tail resistor in the phase inverter was 6.8K, the plate load resistors in the phase inverter were 47K and 56K instead of the normal (for AA763) 100K. The bias feed resistors were 68K instead of the normal 220K, and there was a disc ceramic cap on the board connected between the phase inverter plates. The ceramic cap is more commonly found on brown and blonde amps to prevent parasitic oscillation."

Interesting...

Maybe there is a 63' Deluxe out there.

Now I can understand why are bit pricey. Of course I know it is also do to the fact the Stevie Ray Vaughan used them as well.

The Deluxe Reverb as well as the Twin Reverb were first announced in the Fender Down Beat insert of Sept 63. They both first appeared in the 63-64 Full line Fender catalogue at that time late Sept.. My Deluxe Reverb which was built in January 64 and is an AA763 circuit all components date 63. If there are any 63 DR's I gotta think they are extremely rare and I mean like Hen's teeth rare! Figure they announced them that late in the year its doubtful many hit the street in 63. Great amps though, I recapped, re-tubed and bias this one and a new speaker. Honestly even with the original Oxford with a fresh recone this amp sings.

I just looked at that amp and I swear Ive seen on the bay recently cause the rip in the tolex on the bottom. It really looks like it was pretty rusted out then cleaned up. I noticed they put new resistors on the power tubes and new filter caps but left the old electrlytic caps on the board. If you were gonna play it I replace them suckers before they go and take something irreplaceable with them. Be interesting to see what he gets for it, Id call it a 7 outta ten myself. I have yet to see a 63 DR mine is the earliest one that I have seen and most others I have seen were spring 64 from March onward seems like thats when the hit the streets. Probably a couple in some dirt farmers closet next to the 52 Tele and settin on top of a 54 strat......

Not that it's actually on topic  but I got my first Deluxe Reverb in late 1965. Sure wish I still had it. At the time, I thought it was kinda sorta cool because it was a Fender, after all – but of course, it was waaay too small. I couldn't wait until I could trade it in for a BIG amp – which I naturally did. D'oh! Folly of youth 'n' all. :-\ CS

My 64 DR was made later in the year, and is AB763. Mine doesn't have the exposed paper OT.

64s are cool, they have the FEI mojo going for them.

Thanks for the info guys

Hey Markl8 - thanks for that Picture it looks like my clone. I'm assuming that yours came without a Logo on the grill cloth?
Here's my clone:

http://www.pbase.com/esquire/image/74497869/medium.jpg

It has a DRRI faceplate aged.

When did they change from:

FENDER ELECT. INST. CO. to FENDER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

under Deluxe Reverb Amp on the faceplate?

Mid 65 is when they dropped the Fender Elect and the raised logo was added in 66. They then phased out the Deluxe non verb in the fall of 66. You are right mine did not come with the logo. Nice amp you have there BTW
