Ok, I'm thoroughly confused. The fender 52RI as listed on the Fender webpage is said to have American Vintage pickups. On the pickups page of the Fender website, there's a pair of pups called the Original Vintage pickups, but it says they're "OEM", whatever that means, on the American Vintage tele, which I think means the 52RI doesn't it? If that's the case, why are they called American Vintage in one spot and Original Vintage in another, and come to think of it, why isn't the American Vintage 52 RI just called the 52 RI???
But my real question really is if I wanted to buy a pair of 52 RI pups like they use in the current 52RI's, where would I go? Is the Original Vintage pups listed on the Fender pickup page the same as the current 52RI pups?

That's what I've always assumed....meaning the ones on the Pickup page, are what's in the 52 Ri.....:?:

American Vintage (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?section=guitars&cat=telecaster&subcat=americanvintage) is the name Fender uses for a series of guitars. American Vintage ‘52 Telecaster® (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0100202850) is the name Fender uses for that one particular guitar. Original Vintage Telecaster® (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0992119000) is the name Fender uses for the pickups in that guitar.
'52 Reissue or '52 RI is a slang name many folks use to refer that guitar.
Yes, the OV pups are the ones in the current production AV '52 Tele.
There are lots of places selling the OV set new. You can find a set new for under $100, here are a few places:
Antique Electronics/tubesandmore (http://www.tubesandmore.com/scripts/foxweb.dll/catalog@d:/dfs/elevclients/cemirror/ELEVATOR.FXP?PAGE=SUBCAT&SEARCH_TREE01=GUITAR&SEARCH_TREE02=PICKUPS&SEARCH_TREE03=FENDER) - $89.95 (P-PUF70)
Acme (http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/Tele_Pickup_Set_Original_Vint_P556C60.cfm) -$90
guitarpartsresource (http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0992119000) - $98.79
Angela (http://www.angela.com/) - $99.99
I've seen used ones going for as low as $35 for one of the two pups, but I don't often see them selling that low.

Hey thanks for the help! That clears things up. I tried out a 52RI in a store for about a half hour and was absolutely floored by the sound. It's definitely the type of tele tone that I like. I didn't like the guitar itself, it was just too difficult to play with the way the neck was finished, and I don't really go for that canary yellow butterscotch blonde look. But the sound was fantastic. To me the bridge pup has that tele snarl that I like. I'd have to have the neck wired in the modern fashion, however.
Again, thanks for the info!
