How do you like it? I can't make up my mind...Bassman or Deluxe Reverb Reissue, I know they are two different animals but.....Awwww Heck I want both............

Both with blue frame eminence speakers. I still have the 2nd one and installed a Hoffman board in it. They both sounded similar: lots of mids & liked to be kicked w/ od pedals. Good amps for blues and country if you like Marshally mids. I'd say a DRRI is more versatile and portable..

good luck!

I stupidly traded my RI Bassman for another amp. I mostly used it with a rockabilly band I was in, but it did basically anything with the right pedals. I could often just plug into it and turn it on and the sound that came out was okay without any tweakage. It's an excellent gigging amp.

I had a 97 BMRI and loved it to death -- but it is LOUD when pushed to its sweet spot. About 50watts through 4x10 sounds sweet but was ultimately too much amp for my uses. A DRRI, at 22 watts, may be more useful (particularly if you're looking to push the amp).

I've got a 1st Generation Bassman ReIssue.
Finally, I honestly can say I LOVE it.
Of course NOW it's 16 years old too!
The one thing that finally did "it" was playing it
WIDE-OPEN to the point of "melt-down" for
several days on end through a Les Paul Standard
and a Les Paul Custom at a friend's barn out it
the boonies of Western New Hampshire.
The Humbuckers really SLAMMED the electronics,
cooked 'em out real good.
NOW She sounds just like a '56 Champ.
Except a wee bit louder:twisted:

My .02:

You are right on when you say you want both- the more Fender tube amps, the better!

If I had to choose, I would get the Deluxe Reverb RI. More versatile, more manageable volume, more portable.

I have a vintage DR and I love it. I also have a Bassman RI with a point-to-point board installed. I like it as well, but it is a louder amp, too much for smaller rooms.

I have both. I like them both but I like the Deluxe the best. They do have a different sound. You would just have to judge for yourself.

I have a 59 RI with a point to point (tag) board that I absolutely love but as noted in a previous post-it's loud for a lot of places you might play. So I've got a Fargen Blackbird (Deluxe Reverb clone basically) 1x12, 20 watts thats become my main gigging amp. So for me, if feasible, one of each would be a good thing to have!

I had a first generation BMRI, now I have a newer LTD model, the cabinet makes a huge difference.

I have the Ltd. Love it. Sometimes I take the twin on gigs and sometimes the bassman, last week took both.

I own a 59 bassman and I love the clean sound, it makes your tele sound like it should, but if your a giging musician you can not go wrong with the Deluxe, our lead player went through a twin for a long time and hated the hassle of packing it around, he went to the deluxe and found the sound he wanted AND he can easily pack it around with him. The bassman is not as heavy as a twin but is still a little awkward and delicate. I would vote for the deluxe if your a giging musician

I have owned both and while the DRRI is a special legendary amp I preferred the fingerjoined pine cabinet "woody" sound of the '59.....as already mentioned above they are different beasts. You nailed the solution in your question....
......BUY BOTH!!!

I always wonder if fender custom shop will make 'real' point to point hand-wired bassman just like they issued '57 Deluxe recently. I know fender did quite nice job on the '59 BMRI, but they could do better on the blues legendary amp. do you guys think there's any possiblity fender would make 'real' bassman someday?

Don't own one but have played through a few and came away a believer. For the money that is one heck of an amp. If I ever sell my '55 Twin its replacement may very well be a Bassman RI.

One really cool trick I did with my 1990's Bassman reissue was to run a compressor as a jumper from input #2 to #4, and plug the guitar into #1. This will find the sweet spot at lower volume. I learned it from Mike McAdam, a Fender endorsee and lead guitar player with Radney Foster when I opened for them around 1992. We both were using BMRI and custom shop Teles, so he figured I was cool enough to talk to. Nice guy.
