Fitting new tuners

Not for a Tele I admit but there's no forum for non-Tele nuts 'n' bolts.

I'm doing up my son's Epiphone G-400 and want to put on some vintage-style Gibson tuners in place of the stock Grovers. Trouble is, the headstock holes are slightly wider than the bushes for the Gibsons. I've seen plenty of advice on making holes bigger but none on making them smaller!

What's the best way to fit the bushes? Should I pack something around the barrells to try to get a snug fit, or is it too risky and therefore best not to go ahead at all?

Cheers Jussishow. Just measured the holes and they look like 7/16", slightly more than 3/8". For the price though I'll give them a go. Thanks for the link.

One of my bands is named Mid-Life Crisis! Of course, there are a bunch of other bands with that name.
