Trying to plan out the build and I'm a large fan of the fat '53 style neck. Where would one be able to find a repro tele neck outsde of spoke-shavin' your own? I'm thinking about checkin out an actual Fender neck, but I figured if I could stay away from 3 digit figures I'd try.

All Parts sells a considerably fat Tele neck.

The MIM '50's Tele neck I got off of Ebay is pretty chunky, but that might be more than you're looking at spending. I've seen several of these necks listed on there lately, I think they clock in at 1" in thickness or so. Saw another one from Musikraft a few weeks ago, but it sold for more than a whole geetar oughter. The Allparts one might be the most cost-effective route, I see those listed on there all the time.

I think he's lookin for something a little larger than a 50s Classic...I'd go w/ an Allparts TMO Fat...or Warmoth...USAG...musikraft...all make the 1" Boatnecks

Ah, gotcha. Man, that WOULD be a fat neck then, this one's already fatter than anything I have, except for my Epi '58 Flying V. But can you find one in that price range, though?

Okay, I'm almost thinking I want to go with a licensed Fender neck. Do they make anything resembling the huge '53 necks, skinny frets etc. that's available to purchase, custom shop or otherwise?

All Parts and Warmoth 'fender' necks are licensed by Fender. They do not have decals, however. That can only be obtained form Fender through a dealer with proof that the neck is going on a Fender guitar. there are of course non-legal avenues.
the Nocaster neck is a big round neck. The All Parts TMO is a big neck. I have a fraudcaster going together with one. I like big, round necks.

Skinny frets? Radius? Maybe I'll just do some searchin see what I can. I'm confused on why a Nocaster neck would be a fatter neck. I was of the assumption that they where a smaller neck until '53 and then they exploded into huge luscious goodness. Feel free to edjamakate me!

The last Nocaster I worked on had a large neck. I do not think it was quite as big as the fat vintage neck from All Parts. Both of these necks have 7.25" radii and vintage type frets. If you are looking for a big neck with soem other radius, then Warmoth offers many options.

I like the looks of the Warmoth necks, and they seem like they're closer to what I'm looking for. I'm wandering however, whether I should go for the Boat or the Fat...I'm thinking the Fat but I'll do a bit more neck grabbin to feel for comfort first before I make that decision. I'm curious however, is the vintage tint neck finish accurate with early 50's tele's?

That would be a cool Tele for Fender to reissue either production or from the
Custom Shop. I know Danny Gatton preferred that year, I beleive Roy Buchannon also like the '53, Albert Lee too and many others. They've made just about all the other models.

I did some measurements on how fat of a neck I'm looking for. It's looking to be around 0.94" in the thickest spots. I'm thinking about going after a 9.5 radius rather than the 7 and a quarter. A guy from Ebay told me that the Allparts TMNF-FAT was what I wanted. I found that the Fat and Boat necks from Warmoth are pretty nice looking as well however.
