MIj oddity from the 70's

There's an interesting D-28 clone in the shop right now. It is a Yamaki. I would take it to be from the '70's. The owner says that Yamaha threatened legal action. That's a hoot considering that all of the major Japanese makers at that time were more or less guilty of 'cloning' MIA guitars and were themselves the target of more than one lawsuit threat.
Anyway, this is a very nice guitar. I can see why Yamaha would be concerned...the logo is somewhat similar to 'Yamaha'. I am anxious to get the compensated saddle finished and see what comes out of this one. I suspect it is going to be one of the better MIJ acoustics that I have heard. It appears to be on a par with the handmade Yairis.
Does anyone have any more info on the 'Yamaki' brand?

Take a look on Harmony central, there were a lot of entries in their guitar reviews section under the Yamaki brand.

I'll check it out. The Yamaki turned out to be a fairly good acoustic....not quite the equal of some Yairi's that I have seen, but a very good MIJ guitar.

I played one of the sweetest acoustics in a long time the other day. Solid top/laminate sides, and one of the low-end no-frills Ibanez dreadnought copies MIJ 80's. Just a fantastic neck, electric-like action, and nice, sweet tone.

Good tuners, a bone saddle and nut I think would take this a long way to being at least as good as a Taki for gigging.

Don't know the manufacturer, but I've also got a Japanese D-28 clone from the 70s that has the "Electro-Harmonix" brand name. It was actually the first guitar I ever bought, using the first check I ever wrote. I used it for about fifteen hard years, and then gave it to my dad when I bought my first solid-wood guitar.

I've asked E-H authorities for information on this little box, but no one seems to know much about them. It sure sounds sweet!

Mine is a Yasuma; the headstock script mimics Martins. Where Nazereth should be is "New Ance". well built, solid wood D28ish (not an exact copy). Little to no info while Googling the name.
