What is the best book / dvd to buy if I want to learn to play the telecaster. I have no prior knowledge (other than I understand tabs). My music leanings are more towards country music.

My music leanings are more towards country music.
Well, the best book to get to start with is a blank exercise book.

Then write in it, 1000 times:

"I must come to my senses - country music is dreadful - learn to rock".
"I must come to my senses - country music is dreadful - learn to rock".
"I must come to my senses - country music is dreadful - learn to rock".
"I must come to my senses - country music is dreadful - learn to rock".
"I must come to my senses - country music is dreadful - learn to rock".

Then scour the internet for this:

Arlen Roth "Masters Of The Telecaster" has some easy and playable material in it. For most basic chord fundamentals and accompaniment skills, try "Mel Bay's Complete Accompaniment Method For Guitar". They publish another book called "Blues Guitar Workout" that is great for getting some soloing happening. Good luck!
