Removing neck pup from tone circuit

I'm not sure if this should be in this forum or the pup forum, but it does have elements of both. I did a search, but could not find a how to on this. How difficult is it to remove just the neck pickup from the tone control. I'm using the stock pup on a '05 MIM Standard, and find that the neck pup is a little too dark. Save for changing the pup completely, is this a worthwhile mod, and just how difficult is it?

FWIW,I added a baseplate to the stock bridge pup, and in my opinion it is definitely worth the time and effort to drill the holes in the plate so it fits. It really adds body to the tone.

I used Ole Fuzzy's diagram and it worked like a charm. Easy, too.
