Thanks guys, Cat 6942 December 9th, 2006, 09:10 AM Go on e-bay, and type in GUITAR PICKUP MOUNTING HARDWARE. There are plenty of guitar stores that sell hardware on e-bay...cheap. That is how I get my mounting screws & springs, when I buy a USED pickup. Good luck! Steve photoweborama December 9th, 2006, 09:19 AM No local shops? You can also get them at a good hardware store... yegbert December 9th, 2006, 10:44 AM Do you want to mount the pickup to the body, or to the pickguard? Here's (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-tech/41269-screws-screws-more-uhm-screws-yeah.html) an old thread with a lot of info on various Tele screws, including the neck pickup mounting screws. I'm sure it has details on the screws for body mounting. On the stock Fender screws for body mounting a Tele neck pickup, the unthreaded portion of the shaft is smaller diameter than the threaded portion. There are some advantages to using screws of the "correct" design and the correct size. One of them is that they are least likely to damage the screw holes in the pickup, and then the pickup is easily usable in a pickguard-mounted configuration. If that's not important, you have a lot more choices. Use screws too long and you risk poking through the back of the body. But I've made do with longer screws by using a plastic spacer just under the head of the screw (a sort of sleeve, like a very small diameter but very thick washer). These (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_parts/Electric_guitar:_Screws_springs/Flametop_Single-coil_Pickup_Mounting_Screws.html) from Stewmac seem to be the correct size and type funtionally. I've bought several of them, and they fit as good as the stock Fenders. If you're mounting it to the pickguard, I'm not sure what size/type screws are correct. You could try your local Fender dealer, they should be able to order the stock Fender replacements; whether for body or for pickguard mounting. Cat December 10th, 2006, 01:00 AM Thanks guys. I actually work at a Hardware store but I didnt have anything at work that was suitable. I am mounting to the body. Thanks for the help and the links guys, I appreciate it. cat jmintzer December 10th, 2006, 08:54 AM E-mail me your snail mail. I've got a few extras... Jamie |
