Coronet - AM 2502

Anyone know anything about this amp? I can get it pretty cheap but I have no idea what this thing is.

no idea really but I think its a solid state

I think I might get it. I like the looks of it and If nothing else it should make a decent cab.

These were the first Japanese Department store solid state amps with discrete components soldered to a tag board usually which were sold as Coronet in Australiasia, and as Teiscos or similar elsewhere.

As long as you are not expecting to do 'Hendrix at Woodstock' they are actually not too bad an amp for low volume, clean sounds at home and the models with tremolo actually sound OK. Again, don't expect tube overdrive.

They are a cheap cabinet, but well assembled and usually they seem indestructible in normal (bedroom) use. Might need some pot cleaner or minor servicing. Cheap but cheeful.

Cool thanks for the info. Can't be too quiet with those 2 speakers though can it? Any idea on what the wattage on this thing would be?

Tried to google and find the Teisco model equivalent and didn't find anything.

Well I just won the auction on ebay. Not sure what to expect, hopefully it sounds good. I have enough spare parts to replace all the corroded parts so it should clean up nicely. Can't wait to get it :)

With two 8" speakers (or are they 6"?...), I'd expect the power to be somewhere between 4 and 12 watts. I don't mean to be a downer, but I hope this didn't cost much.

I am fairly certain they are 8" speakers. From the dimensions I was given the cab is big enough to hold 10" easily. Like I said in first post, I got it cheap. Won't mind too much if its no good, still a bit of fun :)

It arrived today. I replaced the pots, they were very scratchy and touchy. Also swapped out the speakers (they were 8" btw). Lastly I swapped the dials and handle + handle strap because they were corroded / worn badly.

It sounds good, the tremelo is great. Pretty damn loud cranked and the 2 speakers give a big punchy sound. Very happy with it, mega cool amp to own.
