Thanks jwells393 November 26th, 2006, 03:07 PM It appears that all of Stew-Mac's pot are split shaft. I've bought solid shaft pots from Guitar Parts Resource. Thanks The pots should be fine quality-wise. As far as mounting some knobs... StewMac use split shaft, knurled types. If your knobs are made for guitars there's two options: Solid shaft AND Split Shaft Solid shaft knobs, like on some Telecasters, will generally have a screw that allows to to tighten the knob to the solid smooth shaft of the pot. Split Shaft are like most Strats where you simply push the knob onto the pot. They have little ridges around the pot shaft. You may have to email StewMac for more specific dimensions on the shaft's diameter. Pete Galati November 26th, 2006, 04:55 PM The 1meg pots I got from Stewmac are CGE pots. CGE pots tend to be pretty good. They're smoother than CTS pots, and they seem built a bit sturdier. I'm not sure what will last the longest though. They do have the split shafts though. They'll work well for most push-on knobs. Pete Cantom November 26th, 2006, 07:58 PM I just installed a 250K tone pot on my Tele from All Parts. It has a split shaft and is knurled. I put the chrome knob on and tightened the set screw and that was it. I have yet to find a bad pot from any manufacturer. There are five or six good music stores here in my home town and they all sell them for about $5.00. Douglas_Holt November 26th, 2006, 08:17 PM The Stew-Mac pots have 6mm shafts and will work just fine. reddogbass November 28th, 2006, 02:48 PM The only issue I have with the 250 and 500k pots from StewMac are the 5/16 control plate hole size. They're a little sloppy in a 3/8s hole. |
