Switch lugs don't match picture!?

So I'm wiring up my tele with the '53 diagram on the duncan website,
and my switch looks like this....

How am I going to make this work?

Thanks
SB

I'm not sure how your lugs are different? You've got four on each side....

Unless you're talking about the stagger of the lugs....which doesn't matter.

Ok, so how would the wiring look for that switch?

Thanks

Just wire it exactly like the diagram.

Is your concern that the stagger of the lugs is not the same, from your switch to the diagram?

Yeah...I'm just confused. Would it look like this?

It's kind of hard for me to follow your diagrams exactly, but the way you're looking at it in this picture is accurate....

To me, it looks like you have that yellow lead going to too many lugs, but it may just be the way you drew it out...

You got it if you move the ground to the bottom lug on the far right.

The only thing I would change in your picture other than moving the ground connection, and only for clarity, to make the color of the wires bridging the last two sets of lugs on the far rigth both red to make it easier to read. (The wire that jumps from the second yellow wire down... make it red too.)

Is that cap connected to the bottom lug and then to ground?

It looks like it is swept across the last two lugs (top and bottom) on the far right and that's not how I read the diagram.

I view that bridge to the last lug as being a wire, and then the two ends of the cap going from the bottom lug on the far right to ground on top of the cap.

I know you were having trouble making sense of the diagram with the lugs being staggered different on your switch and I just didn't want to add to your confusion with any misunderstanding.

I have had my share of frustrations over wiring switches and have gotten pretty anal retentive about my soldering matching the diagram exactly because I know first hand how frustrating wiring diagrams can be if you get confused.

If I'm reading you correctly....Electrically, there is no difference between your two distinctions.

I hate typing about wiring. It can get so confusing.

Someone around here use to have quote in their signature that said, "Talking about music is like dancing about archetecture". That's how I feel right now.

Thank you.

I am not an electrician, so I have to follow wiring diagrams exactly or face utter frustration trying to figure out whats wrong later. It seems like everything is cool now, so I am fleeing this thread on wiring grateful to have picked up something new. Thanks again.

Looks like you're off to a good start. Looks correct to me, so far.

So which one is the ground connection?

Anything connected to the back of the pot (and then the ground on the output jack) is the ground.

$10 spent on a basic multi-meter at Radio Shack will be the best $10 that you'll spend in a long time.

I can't answer your wiring question, but I know that if I have to read "Shligo-pa Shligo-Pee Shligo-pa Shligo-pee" one more time, I'm gonna run out the door and kill someone. PLEASE spare us all and drop it.

On a similar note, I have an '88 Squire ProTone Thinline tele that has Cor-Tek pots and switch too (I think). I have not found a diagram to match the obvious mods (bad soldering) at any of the wiring diagram/parts sales sites. Can anyone tell me if these are the stock components installed in the factory or some aftermarket attempt at boutique?
