teejoo August 7th, 2006, 11:33 AM I have recently bought a 2nd hand Fender Power Chorus, but it has a broken footswitch. The channel select and boost buttons are broken. I checked the Fender website, but they don't have a replacement for this amp.
Is it possible to fix the switch (replace the buttons or so?)? Or does anybody know another footswitch which will work?
teejoo August 8th, 2006, 02:02 PM Also, is there any way to check if it's just the buttons that are broken? Switching the buttons seems fairly simple so...
By the way, what buttons should I get? 1PDT, 2PDT, 3PDT. What's the actual difference anyway?
Bluesbob August 9th, 2006, 11:03 AM that might fill the bill? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Power Chorus.

Deaf Eddie August 11th, 2006, 01:51 PM ... by the new Fender footswitches. I have two Fender amps - a Princeton Chorus (non-DSP, late eighties, I believe) and a Stage 100 DSP (recently disco-ed). I have three Fender footswitches: a single-button and two of their two-button footswitches. They certainly do NOT seem to be "interchangable" between their amps. Here's my experience:
The single-button footswitch works and does channel changes on my Princeton Chrous, but does NOTHING on the Stage Lead 100 DSP head.
The two-button footswitches both work as labeled on the Princeton Chorus - they MIGHT actually be the correct footswitch for that amp - channel button changes channels, chorus button does chorus on/off.
However, the two-button footswitches will do ONE function on the Stage 100 - and that is, the button labeled "chorus" changes channels. The channel button does nothing.
I've opened these up, tried to make sense of the circuit. It SEEMS like they are just running a couple of one-way resistors (diodes?) in there. I tried swapping parts around in one of the two-button footswitches to make the channel button change channels, tried swapping parts over to the single to make it do channel changes on the Stage 100... and failed miserably. The magic is simply beyond me.
If one of our resident electronics gurus would like to do an elightening little article of the hows and whys of these footswithes on this forum, it would sure be appreciated!
Anyway...
First piece of advice: before you BUY a Fender replacement footswitch, read the discription and make sure that your specific amp model is listed!
Second piece of advice: you can e-mail Fender and get the correct part number for the footswitch specific to your amp, BUT, the footswitch must be then be ordered/purchased through an authorized Fender dealer. I did that, and I have the correct four-button footswitch on order for the Stage 100 head - but it's, like, in the hundred-bucks price range, though. OUCH! Won't get an exact price until it lands... It sure would have been nice to just "convert" one of the two-button switches!
aznrambo481 August 11th, 2006, 02:22 PM I'm sure you could replace the buttons.
-The 1PDT (also known as the SPDT) would have 3 leads coming out of it
-The 2PDT (also known as the DPDT) would have 6,
-The 3PDT would have 9.
I don't know much about the footswitch itself, just trying to give you a heads-up on what you should get if decide to replace 'em.
Deaf Eddie August 11th, 2006, 03:34 PM I'm sorry, aznrambo481, but you haven't seen one of these Fender footswitches, have you? I haven't seen inside a three or four button job myself, but even the two-button one's cable is just TWO CONDUCTOR... weird, huh? These aren't the simple closed/open contact deal. I've tried those on my amps and they don't work.
Yes, you could probably replace the buttons, but it would have to be an exact replacement part to work with the printed circuit inside them. Yer regular ol' RadioShack or AllParts number ain't gonna do it.
BTW, after a little research, I believe that the about half way down the page in the MF link that Bluesbob posted, it shows the footswitch for the Princeton Chorus/Ultimate Chorus/M80 etc, and that switch WILL work for your Power Chorus. (I PM-ed you).
mrpicki March 18th, 2009, 06:59 PM Old thread but:
I've come across a schematic for the Fender Power Chorus footswitch, if anyone wants it just PM me.
These footswitches are very specific to this amp, the other switches available won't work.
