Interesting... I just took her apart. The neck says "ST-54DEX2" which confirms the fact that it is a 54RI... but the body is stamped 62DEX2... what the heck?

Anyone here knows CIJ strats and can help me out?

THanks!

I count 11 screw holes for the PG that would make it a 62. a 54 would have 8. There are so many Fender parts for sale on Ebay its hard to tell if anything is all original these days.

Its a 1996 model should say MIJ on the back of the neck not CIJ.

I stand corrected... it does say MIJ in the back.

The pickguard is a WD, and the vandal who owned this guitar pierced extra holes in the darn body to match the PG... some people...

I had an MIJ 62 shell pink strat from that same year, had the sticker too. Very nice guitar, I had Fralins in mine. I must say that I liked the color at first but then got a little tired of it, not to the point where I hated it, just like other colors much better. I had a tortoise pickguard on mine for awhile too, but just to try a different set of pickups that I had in another guitar, so I just swapped the whole assembly. I thought it was an interesting look, but the classic white looks better IMO.

I'm not an expert, but as far as the stamps go, I would guess that they used the same bodies for the 60's and 50's type strats, and grabbed them for specific guitars after they were stamped. Never looked at mine.

Mark, thanks for the heads up on Miss Pinky !!!
I'm wonderin' Mark - is there also a '62 in Shell Pink ???
To have both would really be a feather in the ol' Strat cap.

I just went to check the specs and they dropped Shell Pink and added Inca Silver to the 60's MIM Classic. I saw 1 shell pink and have never seen an Inca Silver 60's Classic so that is cool too. Inca SIlver looks amazing with a tortise pickguard.
