Hi guys,

I was offered this guitar as a straight trade for my G&L Asat Junior ltd. ed. (#9 of 250). It's mint (plastic still on pickguard) and comes with all the original goodies. I must say I'm tempted, but ofcours I want to play the guitar first. What do you guys think of this strat? (playability, sound, collectability)

Cheers,

J.J.

...probably Texas Special pu's and likely to be a little heavy. Otherwise, it looks great. Nice 3 color SB, nice flame. Don't know anything about the ASAT jr. LTD ED. 8)

They're supposed to be vintage style PU's and the seller says it's a very light guitar, but if I decide to go for it I'm going down there to check it out first.

that is the question? not sure about the other side of the big pond, but here in south texas an american fender will always bring more return than any g&l. and please dont get me wrong i really like and have owned several good g&ls but resale is pretty weak on em.so if you need a good strat and could live without your asat id say go for the trade! oh yeah long live eastenders also. later

tone and playability first and foremost tone and playability
looks do not equate tone and playability. If you're already missing the G&L and you've still got it in your possession it's a bad decision to unload it period. And, what makes this guy wanna part with an obviously more
pricey instrument for your humble G&L? so please take this into consideration before you do something it sounds
like you'll regret further on up the road.

ASAT Jrs sell for around 800-850 used if its a CS model its worth more on the market than the ASAT is.

There's a couple of things that are quite different over here. What you may call a humble G&L is a top of the line instrument over here. The cheapest new G&L, say a standard Asat or Legacy, costs at least 1500$. The Asat Junior is not a standard G&L. I'm asking 1250 Euros for mine, and the owner of the Anniversary Strat approached me about a possible trade with this strat he's selling. He, on the other hand, is asking 1000 Euros for his strat. The point is, however, that the only guitar I've played in the last 2 years or so is my CIJ 62 RI strat (I changed everything but the neck, body, tuners, input jack, knobs, PU covers, trem claw and trem springs) and that I am completely GAS free as far as guitars are concerned. I don't want another guitar, I'm trying to unload a couple, but over here nobody seems to be buying these days. I might keep the Anniversary strat if I go for the trade, I don't know yet.

Cheers,

J.J.

Since you are obviously not that attached to the G&L
(because you are selling it) I say to go for it.
A limited edition custom shop Fender would definitely have a larger market and you could play it a while
or sell it immediately. G&Ls can be great guitars
but you've gotta find the right buyer for a high
end G&L.

Good luck.
