Mickey May 30th, 2006, 02:57 PM I have an Allparts neck with truss rod in the heel. I also screw my pups into the body.
Is there a tool to adjust the truss without (1) taking off the neck, or (2) taking out the pup?
Something like a screw driver with a 90º angle? Flat or Phillips head would work.
Thanks mucho.
Jack Wells May 30th, 2006, 03:30 PM Does your guitar body have the slot between the neck pocket and the pickup cavity? If not you might cut one. You might be able to get at it if you screw the pickup all the way down............ or just push it down with your finger.

Mickey May 30th, 2006, 04:31 PM I've got the cut there, I just thought that since it's such a tight squeeze between the heel and the pup, and since it's such a common adjustment, that a tool existed.
It happens to be a "tall" pup, so maybe this is an unusual problem.
thanks.

Jack Wells May 30th, 2006, 05:20 PM Years ago I had a small racheting right angle screwdriver that I bought at Sears.............. haven't seen or thought about it in years.
Maybe this is what you need. It's part of a screwdriver set I found on the Sears website. Seems like you should be able to find it as a single item somewhere.

montana June 1st, 2006, 12:19 AM funny this thread should come up now. for the very same reason (to adjust the truss rod on my 60s tele) i just visited the hardware store this evening and picked up the right angle screwdriver seen in the photo above. turns out it wasnt shallow enough. it wouldnt fit between the screw and the neck pickup.
i ended up using a paint can opener and it worked great.

We went to the same hardware store last night. To fit between the pup and the truss rod screw, the tool can't be more than 1/2".
I ended up geting a ratcheting screwdriver ($6). Looks like a socket ratchet but is much smaller. Looks like this. (http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/5f/1c/Stanley_Ratchet_Offset_Screwdriver_Shop_Tools-resized200.jpg)

Ah ................ that's the one I used to have.
all_identaties_taken June 4th, 2006, 11:20 AM I need to get me some sort of tool, although first I have to notch the body I have as it's not notched for the TR adjuster.
Pete Galati June 4th, 2006, 02:45 PM This is what I've used for years:

My parents gave me this screwdriver when I was a little kid, and when I started playing guitar, it ended up being a great size for adjusting my Telecaster.
It's not a particularly good screwdriver, but it works for the trussrod.
I've always kind of wanted something like an angled screwdriver though, but this works well.

I have one of those (it says Stanley Yankee No 3412 on it)! :D
And wouldn't you know it, my truss rods all adjust at the headstock!
