Matchless Spitfire, anyone?

I have a hand-built amp with topology of a Spitfire.

What is your experience with the highs/clarity?

What kind of speaker to match to this puppy?

The Matchless Spitfire is a nearly direct knock-off of the normal channel Vox AC15.

A Celestion, Weber Silver Bell, or Eminence Brit voiced Legend would be a good match.

Huh? The original AC15 used the EF86 pentode preamp very similar to the original AC30/4 normal channel. They also had a vibrato channel.

The Korg reissue of the AC15 is basically a half power version of the AC30/6 with top boost preamp, plus reverb.

The Spitfire is unlike either of these AC15s, and is more like the single gain stage non-top-boost preamp of AC30/6, though still different (i.e. it uses both triodes of the 12AX7 in parallel).

Look at the schematic of an AC 15. It does use an EF86 but the Matchless replaces that with a doubled 12AX7.
