Good News From Me, For A Change! lol

I've been whining and griping about the sound mix at my church. This past Sunday Steve, a guitar player, ran the board, and as he always does, he got an outrageously good mix both in the monitors and out in the "house". During altar call we sang "This Is The Air I Breathe" - you may know it, slower song in G. At one point the pastor had us vamping on D-C as people prayed, and just to break up the monotony I started playing little "fiddly bits" on my mandolin. The mix was great and it started feeling good to me, "plugged in" to the Spirit and worshipful, and before I knew it I had played an extended solo of about 5 minutes! Suddenly realized I had been playing a while and backed out a little sheepishly. After the service, for the first time, I had several very positive comments about the mandolin playing.

Please believe me, it isn't ego, because I don't really play mandolin very well! so I'm forced to try to make music with the limited chops I have. I did that and it was just a blessing all around.
