Gene Tunney April 8th, 2006, 05:39 PM Does anyone else see the humor in some of (if not most of) the stories surrounding the latest Fender great deal on E-Bay? I mean the nerve of some of these people. “I was driving home from the bar last night and the all original 1955 “untouched” Stratocaster was just laying on the park bench”. Another one of my favorite “cacca del torro” lines is “I’m selling this for a friend and boy, do I wish I had the money to buy it”. Forgive me if I’m too cynical but if I was going to get the W-D 40 out, spray my wallet, pry it open and then painfully remove some of my money for something I have never touched, I feel I have the right to be skeptical. I wonder if there is a percentage listed anywhere as to how often these stories are true or false.
Oh, by the way, my pet seahorse ate my laptop so I won’t be able to check in to this site as often as normal.

Mark Davis April 8th, 2006, 05:51 PM I like the ones that start out with I dont know anything about guitars but I found this old guitar in my grandpas attic.
Selling a guitar doesnt require a story. When you buy a dozen eggs from the store an old man doesnt pop up and say these eggs were laid by a chicken I found in my attic LOL.

lol...WOW
the use of creepy adjectives just sends it even more over the top. I'd be curious to hear what song it plays when it mysteriously plays itself. What's that guitar worth normally?
3StringGuitar April 8th, 2006, 10:20 PM No idea but if you think that's creepy try highlighting the paragraph under the last one about using caution heh.
RelicStrat April 8th, 2006, 10:24 PM "soulless stooge of Satan"

Durtdog April 10th, 2006, 10:02 AM 10 years ago when I was shopping for a SAAB this was part of the pitch from the sales woman:
"Lots of car manufacturers crash-test their cars, but SAAB puts their engineers IN the cars and THEN crash-tests them."
Of course, I bought the car immediately.
GTO April 13th, 2006, 06:10 PM There was a '52 Telecaster Relic on ebay recently.
This was apparently specially ordered from the main Fender factory as the owner didn't want unsightly Custom Shop logo's on the guitar. It was way higher quality than CS, and came fully reliced, direct from the Fender factory (not Custom Shop) for £3500. He wanted £2200 for a quick sale. Oh, and he was away so his brother in law would post it and no you can't pay with Paypal.
Needless to say the auction disappeared before the due time.
billywade April 16th, 2006, 11:15 PM Saabs and Fenders. It seems like a strange combo but works for me as well.
Sarge April 21st, 2006, 02:32 PM What do you expect.......E-Bay is the trailer park of the internet.

I actually met a woman who thought eggs were made in a factory. She had no idea Chickens laid them. Serious as a heart attack

UNDER AN OLD FARMERS BED!
Ive got to get pally with some old farmrs in case they're looking to bequeath their vintage guitar collection to someone!
mojohen May 1st, 2006, 10:02 PM If you look at the guy's other items, you may find a "Develish DeVille" that oozes blood from the reverb pan.. Well written anyway.
I did get a '68 Gibson Hawk amp for $65 at a junk shop once. Beautiful amp.
An older friend of mine in the HVAC business was doing a job for a doctor's house once, and noticed a gold colored guitar hanging on the wall. He asked to look at it, and the good Dr. oblidged, stating he found it in an old case when he bought the property. The case was fully deteriorated, so he threw it out. He like the guitar and it went with his wifes furniture, so they hung it on the wall. As they looked at it, he pulled it off the wall, and hit it with some pledge to see the writing on it...
Ended up being a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with the trapeze tail and P90's!!
The surprised HVAC man told the Dr. about the history and possible value....I'd guess it was sold and a really nice original Monet is now hanging in it's place......
mojohen
This story is no bull**** either!
