Picked up a mid 80's teal MIJ Fernandes Strat yesterday. Awesome guitar, definately as sweet as the MIJ's and Tokais of that decade. Got it cheap, near mint and it just oozes tone!

It has a different headstock but everything else is sort of like a Tokai of that decade. The stock pick ups are very nice, no replacement needed. I wasn't aware that they had a Fender headstock at one time. This is my first Fernandes so I need to do a serial number search to find the exact year...but I was told it was an 80's model. Like Tokai and MIJ's from the 80's the attension to detail, construction and tone is really superb. Aother great guitar, and the sustain...I know Fernandes offers the sustain models but some of it must have carried over to this one. I'll have to find out what the pick ups are cause they are damn near perfect.

When my Ibanez AS-200 semi-hollow was stolen before a gig in 1982, a buddy loaned me his Fernandes strat to use until I got the insurance money to replace it. That gutiar started my love for strats. Killer guitar. A good bud just picked up a late 80's model ( with the different headstock ) for $125 and that thing kills!

As with the early Tokais and ESP's, Fernandes are jsut really good guitars. Congrats on your score Sarge!

they are great guitars for sure. i have few of the japan clones, the first fernandes series, called "the revival", both tele and strats, had the fender headstock, the red one is the fernandes and the sunburst is a 78 tokai "springysound".
gotta love the names. i think the greco versions are called "spaceysounds" lol

Greco had Spacey Sounds, Early Sixties, Super Sounds ...and my Favorite...Brazen Picker.
Lots of Japanese makers have exact reproductions of Fender and Gibson headstocks, I just got a book today on Greco strats and teles and it begins in 1972. Fernandes had The Revivals more than once too. I own some F. strats...one The Function has order made stamped in the neck pocket and is beautifully made, even if it does have a Floyd bridge...the other The Function I have is a regular production model, heavier than the first but still a nice guitar. The last is an artist model made for Akira Wada...3 lace sensor type p`ups with a Duncan bucker squeezed between the mid and bridge sensors. Original price was about $2000.oo, one day the local Yanaha shop was selling stuff to prepare for a remodeling and it got it for $500.oo, it has a honduras oil finished body with black hardware and a mini toggle to get strat, tele and just the bucker tones...it`s frickin amazing. All have fender headstocks.
During that Yamaha sale...I bought about half a dozen mics at 90% off...my credit card was burning up that day I tell ya.
