Several questions about how to date an instrument (Fender St

Greetings, I need help with the following:

1. On the Fender website, to date a strat, I see that they have a chart done by serial number. They all start w/ an MN or MZ prefix for MIMs, then a single digit for the year. Then they all have + 5 digits.

Well, mine has an MZ0 and 6 digits: MZ0188416

How can I tell how old this guitar is based on that number?

2. When did they start making MIM Player's Deluxe strats? I thought it was a recent thing, but it appears it isn't.

3. Do all MIM Player's Deluxe strats come w/ US noiseless pickups? If not, what did they come with before?

4. When did Fender introduce Noiseless pickups?

5. Do all noiseless pickups come stock w/ the Noiseless "label" on the pickup cover?

Thanks for any help you may be able to bring to this :)

Yours is a 2000 model.

The Deluxe Player Strat replaced the Super Strat.

Its basicly the same guitar with a 12" radius.

As far as the dates Fender makes some typos at times about the 5-6 digit serials.

The Deluxe Player Strat came out in 10-2004

The Super Strat came out in 11-1999

If it has noiseless pickups they all have the noiseless markings on top of the pickup cover.

The Super Strat used different pickups than the Deluxe players model.

thanks for the details! I appreciate it. Any idea what pickups came in those super strats?

I would have to cross reference the parts numbers with all the other Strats. My guess is the Super Strats probably shared the same pickups as the Classic models.

Let me look around a little and see what I can come up with.

I compared parts numbers and the others list the pickups as a whole assembly 3 pickups.
