Variance in Resistance of Vintage Noiseless Neck Pickup?

I was checking the resistance of my VN Neck Pickup and it measured at 10.3 K. The Fender site says the pickup is 12 K. Would this indicate that there is something wrong with the pickup, or is it just wound a little less? The pickup seems to work okay, though it is a bit weaker than the Tex-Mex I have in the middle position of my Nashville Tele (which I thought was a weaker pickup).

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Just found your question while searching for info on Fender noiseless neck pickups - so better late than never :)

I have one on the bench here and resistance measures 10.6K - I checked on 2 different meters. It is about 2 years old.

So I don't know what is going on with Fender's quoted 12K D.C. resistance...

Nice sounding pickup though - has more top end than that resistance would suggest if it was a conventional design.
