JohnnyCrash March 17th, 2006, 02:40 PM OK,
I've spent SO LONG searching for a simple part with no success...
A brown/red Tortoise shell Telecaster pickguard with a Humbucker hole for the neck pickup.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE OF THESE??!!
This is insane! HAHA
I've put all of my amp builds on hold until I can get my three Telecasters all upgraded... grr.
cacibi March 17th, 2006, 02:55 PM I assume you're looking for one off the rack, but Warmoth will cut anything you need:

JohnnyCrash March 17th, 2006, 04:46 PM Yeah, I saw em...
I don't have any access to phone use during work hours, and they STILL don't have online ordering...
I could fax an order in I guess...
I know there's gotta be somewhere that sell them!!
Hey Joe March 17th, 2006, 06:38 PM http://www.terrapinguitars.com/pg2/FenderTele_06.php
Ive never ordered from them before but it seems as if they can do it.
JohnnyCrash March 17th, 2006, 09:19 PM I just ordered it from them.
Terrapin and Warmoth go out and cut em, so they charge a lot more than the "off the shelf" numbers...
I just paid $50 for a guard that I should've got for $25!
Oh well, I really need it so they got me by my sack.
Wally March 18th, 2006, 04:38 PM I've never seen a 'shell or pearloid guard list for $25. Wholesale price for those is close to that or more....
Cassidy March 21st, 2006, 11:53 PM www.guitarfetish.com
They have pearloid for 19.95, other colors are less. Their cutouts are perfect (I have two).
Cassidy 8)
JohnnyCrash March 22nd, 2006, 05:16 PM I ordered a "gold pearloid" Nashville Tele from GuitarFetish.
IDK if it's ugly or not yet... I shoulda gone with white pearloid.
ANYWAYS, they aint got brown/red tortoise shell w/ humbucker cut.
Wally, I've seen all kinds for that much cash, including the ones on GuitarFetish... I can find Nashvilles, and normal single coil, BUT unfortunately I can't find humbucker holed one.
Wally March 22nd, 2006, 06:07 PM Johnny, I saw those. I guess I am out of touch with the new Chinese-dominated market. It's amazing what 30 cents-an-hour labor can do, isn't it? I wonder how long it will take to bring our labor costs/earning power down to a level that will create jobs here? But, that is another subject.
There is one thought-provoking caveat in their ad....."fits most ..." Chandler never quibbles about whether or not the 'guard will fit.
Good day and good luck.
JohnnyCrash March 22nd, 2006, 07:26 PM I'll tell ya what Wally, I got mine yesterday and it woulda fit perfect except I threw a longer 22 fret Strat neck on her.
I had to trim for the overlap...
Otherwise it was spot on.
A lot of the parts that go into pickups, hardware, or anything else come from outside of the US... I used to be sad, but it's too late for that now - this is the way life and economics work now... nothing to be done about it.
I build amps so sourcing parts is now a daily ritual... it'd be nice to find quality US made parts for cheap, but I gotta pay my bills, and I don't have time to search for myths.
You know how it is now... "the train kepta rollin..." - oh well
:(
Wally March 22nd, 2006, 07:46 PM How do you get that heavy black print going on? Is that what is called "net shouting"? If so, there's no need...I hear you fine. I also can't disagree with you about the imports. Let's just hope the long-term adjustment to the standard of living and income-earning potential of the general citizenry here is not too painful. Afterall, in your particular situation, it would be far cheaper to use those parts that are imported to the U.S. for amp building in the home countries where the labor is cheaper, too. I am sure that someone is trying to set-up some hand-wired production over there...hey, I've considered it, so I am sure that someone else has been thinking along those lines. It will happen. That many inexpensive hands need something to do besides make bargain 'guards. We need bargain handwired amps, too.
Let's see...a '57 Twin for what..maybe $500. Yeah, that's the ticket..
how's that song go....
"Well, it's dog eat dog
And cat eat cat.
I'm gonna let the 4:19
scratch my back.
Rag, Mama Rag......"
Ya'll have a good one, now,ya hear?
Darn, I wish I could do that 'NET SHOUTING' thing....
